Before leaving for China we tried to prepare Alexa that she would get lots of looks and that people would want to touch her hair, but what we weren't prepared for was the amount of attention that the boys would get. Everywhere we go, people just stop and stare at the boys, especially Elijah. They comment on how cute he is! Yes, we think he is too! Today we even had a girl come try to grab him and hold him to take his picture. Our guide has been so wonderful and stopped people from taking their pictures. For those of you that know Elijah, he's not a fan of all the attention and definitely not a fan of having a stranger pick him up!!
We went to the Summer Palace today, a silk factory, had lunch at a very good noodle restaurant, and then went to the Beijing Zoo to see the pandas. We have had so many noodles the last 3 days, we're on carbohydrate overload!!! That's what happens when you tell your guide that your kids love noodles!! We have learned (even Elijah) how to use chopsticks! If you don't - you starve. The local restaurants that we've been going to do NOT have forks!! We're becoming pros!
Tomorrow it's off to the Great Wall. We're excited that she is taking us to a different part of the wall than the one we saw 9 years ago. We even get to take a cable car up part of the way, walk the rest, and then take a toboggan back down! Should be fun!
Heading to bed now, we're all exhausted. The kids are doing so well considering the huge time difference. We have not had any major meltdowns and for that we are very thankful! :)
